Home with a sick child
No work for me today. At least not in the sense of my job work. I’ve got plenty to do here at home like washing dishes, finish the laundry, and pick up toys. Funny how the housework never ceases. There’s always something to do. So, with my sick little girl watching cartoons to forget her puniness, I’m off to the call of chores. Until tomorrow.
Didn’t put 2 + 2 together until I saw them laying on the ground all crunched up.
By the way.. I went to the mall today. It was horrible. “Would you like to try a sample of our hand cream?” “Would you like to save 10% by opening a [COMPANY] card today?”
GROAN.
I did have one uplifting conversation with a clerk at the jewelry store where I got my ring cleaned and checked. The conversation went like this…
Her: “Are you all done with your Christmas shopping?”
Moi: “Well, I’m not really doing a lot of shopping this year. I have just a few things to buy online, but my husband is in charge of that.”
Her: “I don’t know if it’s because I work retail or if my kids are all grown, but I just can’t stand shopping for Christmas gifts. I buy just a couple of things, but for the most part we give the nicest gifts for birthdays. I think Christmas is just too commercialized, plus if my family gives Christmas presents, a lot of time it is just cash because we don’t really know what we want, and that’s great for after Christmas shopping.”
Moi: “Yes, money is a great thing to have. We live on a budget so we don’t really like to spend a bunch. The gifts we give are more for kids, and what we buy is really thought out well. I believe in practical gifts.”
Her: “That’s great that you budget! If people thought about it, they could save so much more money that way.”
Exactly.
