When the heat goes out in Columbia

with 2 comments

I woke up this morning extremely tired from a sleepless night. The weather here in Columbia has been in the 20s at night and our heat happened to go out on us while we slept. Sufficed to say, we didn’t sleep very well trying to huddle together and stay warm. The dogs did the same.

At the time, of course, we didn’t know the heat didn’t work, just that it happened to be very cold. The man did get up in the wee hours and I could hear him banging around in the garage where the heater’s located. All that noise and still no heat.

He made a call this morning and we were able to get someone to come down to take a look at it. It was the ignitor, and, well, it wasn’t igniting. Luckily, the Chapman service man had one on hand and he replaced it in no time.

After a $200 fix (parts and labor) we now have heat and all is right in the world. That emergency fund sure came in handy.
